Shreenath Palace, Jaisalmer

shree nath palaceWelcome

Shreenath Palace – Hotel in Jaisalmer is a wonderful example of an old Rajasthani haveli, set in the golden fort of Jaisalmer.

It is a large house often built by wealthy merchants in Rajasthani towns and cities in North India, with beautiful, ornate sandstone carvings.   Some havelis are many hundreds of years old, and some are still being built. In Jaisalmer Rajasthan, there are many elaborate havelis & palaces carved from golden sandstone.   Some of the most famous havelis & palaces have many floors and countless rooms, with decorated windows, archways, doors and balconies.   Some havelis are today museums but most in Jaisalmer are still lived in by the families that built them, and a good example of this is Shree Nath Palace – The hotel in Jaisalmer at Fort.

About us:

The Vyas family built this lovely haveli Shreenath Palace – Hotel in Jaisalmer in the 15 th Century, and descendants of this family live here today.  Shreenath Palace – Hotel in Jaisalmer was once inhabited by the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer, and you are invited to stay in these rooms – there are only five available for the hotel – and join the Vyas family in enjoying this architectural treasure, and feel like a Maharaja for a few days. Some of the doors and ceilings are wonderful examples of old carved wood from many hundreds of years ago. Some of the doors have brass or iron fittings.

The Shreenath Palace – Hotel in Jaisalmer is a treasure trove of gorgeous archways, delicate alcoves, amazing rooms, small and large balconies, winding staircases leading to rooftop with spectacular views all around the Fort in Jaisalmer, the city and to the desert beyond.  The Maharaja’s Palace, the Jain Temples , the Surya temple, Laxminath  temple and Gadisar Lake are all there for your eyes to enjoy in Jailsalmer.  It is a wonderful spot to enjoy both sunset and sunrise.  After the Maharaja’s Palace, Shreenath Palace – Hotel in Jaisalmer is the largest haveli in the Fort & in Jaisalmer, and probably the most beautiful.

The THAR is a world of its own, an unrelieved ocean of sand, dotted with dunes and seraphic shrubs, with its own distinctive wildlife. Here among the sun and the sand you will meet some of the most colorful and courageous people on earth. They respond to the rigors of the life in the desert with the exuberance of music and songs; their vibrant attire, the upward twist of mustache almost seem to defy the elements

There is considerable scope for adventure in the magical sands of Rajasthan .The arid land offers ample opportunities for desert safaris, whether but the fast, dust-raising jeep and horse or slowly, on the swaying back of a camel.

The people of the desert have been using the camel from centuries; sometimes it is their only means of transport and no man can think of surviving in the Thar Desert without the hardy camel. A camel safari amidst the golden sand dunes of Jaisalmer gives you a real feel of golden landscape .Denizens of the desert, like the desert fox, chinkara (deer), blackbuck and the great Indian bustard can also be sighted. It will take you to those remote areas where there ample opportunity to gain the first hand experience of the rustic environ.

Jawahar Niwas Palace

Jawahar Niwas PalaceAbout us:

It was in 1156 that Maharawal Jaisalsinghji, abandoned his old capital at Lodurva to establish a new citadel on the Trikuta Hill. In doing so he fulfilled an ancient prophecy: Lord Krishna, head of the Yadav clan of which the Bhatis are a sub-clan, had foretold that some day one of this descendants would build his kingdom atop the hill.

Within this ancient city, Maharawal Shalivahansinghji, 39th ruler of Jaisalmer initiated the building of a new palace in 1899. The resplendent elegance of Jawahar Niwas took final shape under successor. Maharawal Jawaharsinghji. The graceful, dusky gold sandstone palace typifies Rajput architecture, while the wealth of intricately carved jharokhas and chhatris are a tribute to the craftsmen of the region.

As the royal guest house, the palace has hosted royalty and British viceroys. The first prime minister of India, as well as the first president have both stayed here. Today, under Maharawal Brijrajsinghji, 43rd head of the royal house of Jaisalmer, Jawahar Niwas opens its doors as an exclusive heritage hotel.

Accommodation:

Renovated with style and distinction, the palace offers every modern comfort and amenity. That is not to say that the past has been swept away. It makes its presence felt with quiet dignity, not only in the regal magnificence that surrounds you, but in graceful little details that creep up on you, reminiscing upon of glory past.

Experience the gracious lifestyle of a bygone era: the romance, glamour and mystique of regal India, enjoy the warmth, the hospitality and the natural charm that is much a part of the people as their history and traditions.

Enjoy the ancient rhythm here. Maharawal Brijraj Singhji’s ancestors ruled the desert, now he introduces you to it over exotic meals of traditional cuisine, recipes culled from the royal kitchens, at exclusive locations lit by the moon and presided over by stars.
